The KENNAMETAL 6371080 is a carbide replaceable tip drill insert in the KTFS series, identified by ISO number KTFST14000HPLM and manufactured in grade KCMS15. The solid carbide tip features a fine grain substrate with a PVD-applied AlTiN coating and an HPL insert geometry. At 14mm cutting diameter, it operates with a 140-degree drill point angle, two helical flutes with a regular spiral, and a through-coolant design that delivers cutting fluid directly to the cutting edge. This replaceable tip format is designed for installation into a compatible KTFS series shank body, making tip changes fast without removing the holder from the machine. Primary applications target stainless steel and other M-group workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for drilling operations in stainless steel and similarly difficult-to-machine M-group alloys in both production machining and job shop environments. The HPL geometry and AlTiN finish work together to manage heat and tool wear in these demanding materials. Supported application scenarios include standard drilling, inclined exit drilling, and stacked plate drilling, making it a practical choice for aerospace, medical, and general precision machining setups where a single tip geometry needs to handle variable conditions.
Designed as a replaceable tip insert for KTFS series drill bodies accepting an R insert seat size. Verified compatible application scenarios include standard drilling, inclined exit drilling, and stacked plate drilling per supplier data. Confirm holder body size and seat designation before ordering.
Installation of this replaceable tip insert should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or removing the tip. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp screw driver per the holder body manufacturer instructions - do not over-torque the clamp. Verify seating and runout before initiating a cut, especially when working with stainless steel where a misaligned tip can cause rapid edge failure.
