The KENNAMETAL 6371056 is a carbide replaceable tip drill designed for precision hole-making in stainless steel and other difficult-to-machine materials. Built to the KTFST series standard, it carries the KCMS15 manufacturer grade with a fine-grain solid carbide tip and a PVD-applied AlTiN coating that extends tool life under high-heat cutting conditions. The drill features a 140-degree included point angle, a 2-flute helical configuration with 2-margin geometry, and through-coolant capability to manage chip evacuation and heat at the cutting zone. It is sized at 11mm cutting diameter and suits shops running tight-tolerance drilling operations on CNC machining centers.
This replaceable tip drill is suited to production drilling applications in stainless steel (ISO material group M) where consistent hole quality and reduced tooling cost per hole are priorities. The HPL insert geometry and standard spiral type make it appropriate for drilling inclined exits, stacked plates, and other interrupted or challenging entry and exit conditions. The clamp-style insert holding method allows tip changes without removing the drill body from the spindle, reducing changeover time in high-cycle environments. Installation and tip changes should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a safe, locked-out state. Use the manufacturer-specified clamping torque procedure for the KTFST body when seating the replaceable tip to ensure proper tip retention. Through-coolant connections should be verified before operation to confirm unobstructed flow to the cutting edge. Refer to the machine tool and cutting tool manufacturer documentation for recommended speeds, feeds, and coolant pressure for the specific workpiece material.
