The KENNAMETAL 6371002 is a carbide replaceable tip drill designed for precision hole-making in stainless steel and other difficult-to-machine materials. Built to the KTFST series platform, it accepts a solid carbide KTFST09375HPL tip with an HPL insert geometry and a ZB insert seat, secured by a clamp-style holding method. The drill features a 15/16 inch (0.9375 inch) cutting diameter, a 140-degree drill point angle, and an AlTiN PVD coating that extends tool life under high-heat cutting conditions. Through-coolant capability delivers coolant directly to the cutting edge, supporting chip evacuation and thermal management during deep or interrupted cuts.
This replaceable tip drill is suited for production drilling in stainless steel (ISO material code M) in both shop and field machining environments. The 2-flute, 2-margin helical flute design supports stable cutting action. Typical applications include straight drilling, inclined-exit drilling, and stacked-plate drilling where consistent hole geometry and tool change efficiency are priorities. The replaceable tip design reduces tooling cost compared to solid carbide drills by allowing tip replacement without discarding the drill body.
Designed for use with KTFST series drill bodies accepting ZB insert seat size tips. Compatible tip ISO number is KTFST09375HPL with HPL insert geometry. Primary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO material code M).
Installation and tip changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and locked out. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw driver specified for the KTFST body to seat the tip securely before operation. Verify coolant passages are clear and through-coolant pressure is set per machine specifications before running. Do not exceed the recommended cutting parameters for the KCMS15 grade when machining stainless steel.
