The KENNAMETAL 6370991 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill designed for precision hole-making in demanding machining applications. Built to the KTFST series standard, this drill tip carries the KCMS15 manufacturer grade and features an AlTiN PVD coating for extended tool life in abrasive and high-temperature cutting conditions. The cutting diameter is 0.875 inches with a 140-degree included drill point angle and a helical flute design with 2 flutes and 2 margins. Through-coolant capability is integrated directly into the tip, supporting high-feed drilling operations where heat management is critical. This tip is installed by machinists and tooling technicians in CNC machining centers.
The KTFST08750HPL tip is engineered primarily for stainless steel (ISO material group M) and is well-suited for challenging drilling scenarios including inclined exit surfaces and stacked plate configurations. The HPL insert geometry and fine-grain carbide substrate support stable cutting action and edge integrity under interrupted or varying load conditions. The ZA insert seat size governs body compatibility. This tip is a single-piece consumable replacement component used in KTFS-series drill bodies.
Designed as an OEM-style replaceable tip for KTFS-series drill bodies accepting the ZA insert seat size. Compatible drill bodies must match the 0.875-inch nominal cutting diameter and ZA seat designation. Consult the KTFST series pairing guide for confirmed body part numbers before ordering.
This replaceable tip is installed and torqued by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician following the drill body manufacturer torque procedure. Ensure the spindle and machine are fully stopped and locked out before tip removal or installation. Inspect the insert seat on the drill body for chips, debris, or wear before seating the new tip. Do not use damaged or worn drill bodies, as improper seating will compromise runout and tip retention.
