The KENNAMETAL 6370988 is a replaceable drill tip designed for use with compatible KTFST-series drill bodies. It features a 0.8661 inch (22.00 mm) cutting diameter, a 140-degree included point angle, and is manufactured from solid carbide with a fine grain material grade. The tip carries the KCMS15 manufacturer grade and is finished with an AlTiN coating applied via a PVD process. Built-in coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and heat management during deep-hole or high-feed drilling operations. Machinists and tooling specialists handling production drilling applications will find this tip suited to demanding material removal tasks.
This replaceable drill tip is engineered primarily for drilling stainless steel (ISO material code M) and is compatible with inclined exit surfaces, stacked plate configurations, and standard through-hole drilling setups. The helical, regular-spiral flute geometry with a 2-flute, 2-margin design promotes stable cutting action. The insert seat size is ZA, and the tip is held in place via a clamp-style insert holding method. Functional length is 0.4331 inches and overall projection is 0.6126 inches, making it appropriate for compact tooling assemblies where overhang must be controlled.
Designed for use with KTFST-series drill bodies using insert seat size ZA. ISO number KTFST22000HPLM identifies the tip geometry and seat interface. Confirm seat size and series compatibility with the drill body before installation.
Replaceable drill tip installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the drill body is fully secured and the machine spindle is locked or powered down before seating or removing the tip. Clean the insert pocket and seating surfaces before installation to ensure proper tip contact and clamping. Follow the tool manufacturer torque specifications for the clamping mechanism using the appropriate Torx or hex key.
