The KENNAMETAL 6370976 is a replaceable drill tip designed for modular indexable drill systems requiring fast, precise tip exchange without removing the tool body from the spindle. Built from solid carbide to the KC7410 grade with a PVD-applied AlCr coating, this tip handles the demanding thermal and abrasive loads typical in cast iron machining. The 140-degree point angle and HPC insert geometry reduce cutting forces at entry and exit, while two helical flutes with four margins maintain hole quality throughout the cut. Coolant-through channels deliver cutting fluid directly to the cutting edge, extending tool life and aiding chip evacuation in deep-hole applications.
This drill tip is suited for production drilling in cast iron workpieces across job shop and manufacturing environments. Rated for primary workpiece material code K (cast iron), it performs in applications including inclined-exit drilling, cross-hole drilling, and stacked-plate drilling. The KTFST series seat size S interface ensures positive clamp retention and repeatable runout when mounted in a compatible KTFST holder body. Two-flute, four-margin geometry with regular spiral fluting is well matched to medium-to-long chipping cast iron grades where chip control and bore finish are critical.
Designed for use with KTFST series modular drill bodies requiring a seat size S replaceable tip interface. Confirmed compatible applications include inclined-exit drilling, cross-hole drilling, and stacked-plate drilling setups.
Replaceable drill tip installation should be performed by a machinist or tooling technician following the drill body manufacturer's clamping procedure. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and machine is in a safe, locked-out state before indexing or replacing the tip. Inspect the seat and clamp surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new tip to ensure proper runout. Refer to the KTFST holder documentation for the correct clamp torque specification, as that value is holder-specific and not provided here.
