The KENNAMETAL 6370918 is a carbide replaceable tip drill designed for precision hole-making in demanding machining applications. Built around the KTFST series architecture, this drill accepts the KTFST06563HPL tip with KCMS15 grade solid carbide and an AlTiN PVD coating that provides heat and wear resistance at elevated cutting speeds. The cutting diameter is 0.6563 inches (17.00 mm) with a 140-degree drill point angle and a standard point type. Two helical flutes and through-coolant delivery keep the cutting zone clear and thermally controlled. The tip is held in place via a clamp mechanism using an HPL insert geometry with a U-seat. This tool is installed by machinists and tooling technicians in CNC drilling operations.
This replaceable tip drill is suited for drilling stainless steel and other difficult-to-machine alloys classified under ISO material group M. Typical applications include straight drilling, inclined-exit drilling, and stacked-plate drilling. The through-coolant design supports higher feed rates and extended tip life in deep-hole and interrupted-cut scenarios where heat buildup and chip evacuation are primary concerns. The 2-flute, 2-margin configuration promotes hole straightness and surface finish quality in precision machining environments.
Designed for use with KTFST series drill bodies accepting KTFST06563HPL replaceable tips and U insert seat size. Primary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO material code M).
Installation and tip replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per facility safety procedures. Ensure the insert seat is clean and free of chips before seating the tip and engaging the clamp. Through-coolant passages should be verified clear before operation. Follow the tool manufacturer and machine tool builder recommendations for speeds, feeds, and coolant pressure for the specific workpiece material.
