The KENNAMETAL 6358122 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit engineered for precision drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Built to Series B210 standards, it carries a wire gauge size of 31 (0.1200 decimal inch, 3.05 mm) and features a 140-degree standard point angle optimized for fast penetration and reduced walking on entry. The AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting ferrous materials. At 2.44 inches overall length and a 0.24-inch straight cylindrical shank, this bit fits standard toolholders used in screw machine and CNC drilling operations. Coolant-through design supports high-speed, deep-hole applications.
This drill bit is designed for right-hand cutting in steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. The screw machine length format - shorter than a jobber bit - delivers increased rigidity and reduced deflection, making it well suited for close-tolerance work on CNC lathes, screw machines, and machining centers. The 2-flute regular spiral geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation in these materials. The flute-to-diameter ratio of 3xD supports a maximum drilling depth of 0.55 inches (14.00 mm), appropriate for short-to-medium depth hole applications common in precision manufacturing environments.
Designed as an OEM-style screw machine length drill bit conforming to DIN 6535 and DIN 6537 standards. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. Straight cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks and ER-style collet systems sized for a 0.24-inch shank.
Installation and use of this tooling should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators familiar with cutting tool setup and machine operation. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured in a properly sized collet or chuck before beginning any work. Confirm coolant-through lines are clear and active if running at elevated feed and speed parameters. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting depth stops and work-holding fixtures.
