The KENNAMETAL 6350518 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for demanding metal-removal applications. Ground to a 16.50 mm diameter with a 140-degree point angle, it features an AlTiN coating and a two-flute regular spiral geometry that support aggressive cutting in difficult materials. The straight cylindrical shank measures 18 mm in diameter and 48 mm in length, and the bit ships with coolant-through capability to help manage heat and chip evacuation at depth. Overall length is 143 mm with a 93 mm flute length, giving a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio. Material grade is KCMS15, indicating a specialized carbide substrate suited for high-performance drilling cycles.
This drill is rated for primary use in stainless steel and high-temperature alloys, materials that generate significant heat and work-harden under improper cutting conditions. The AlTiN coating provides oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures, making this bit appropriate for aerospace components, process-industry fittings, and similar hard-metal applications. Typical install scenarios include CNC machining centers and manual milling setups where through-spindle or through-tool coolant is available. Maximum recommended drilling depth is 71 mm per pass.

Installation and operation of solid carbide drill bits should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with CNC or manual drilling equipment. Ensure the spindle and toolholder are fully de-energized and locked out before inserting or removing the bit. Confirm shank runout is within machine tolerance before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge chipping in carbide tooling. Through-tool coolant should be activated before the cutting edge contacts the workpiece to prevent thermal shock to the carbide substrate.
