The KENNAMETAL 6350480 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill engineered for demanding metal-removal applications. It carries an AlTiN coating and a 140-degree split-point geometry, both of which are optimized for cutting stainless steel and high-temperature alloys where heat buildup and work-hardening are primary concerns. The drill measures 10.80 mm in diameter with an overall length of 4.6457 inches and a flute length of 2.7953 inches. Coolant-through capability allows cutting fluid to reach the tip directly, extending tool life and improving chip evacuation in deep-hole operations. This drill is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in CNC and manual drilling environments.
This drill is suited for production and job-shop environments where stainless steel, Inconel, titanium, and similar high-temp alloys are regularly machined. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling to a maximum depth of 2.2047 inches without retracting for chip clearing in most applications. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders with a 12 mm shank diameter. The KCMS15 grade carbide substrate is specified for these difficult workpiece materials, making this drill a direct fit for aerospace, medical, and process-industry machining work.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual drill presses equipped with drill chucks or collet holders accepting a 12 mm straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel and high-temperature alloys per the manufacturer specification for this part.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Secure the shank fully in a properly sized collet or chuck and verify runout before cutting, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to side loading from misalignment. Always confirm spindle speed and feed rate are within the tool manufacturer's recommended parameters for the workpiece material before engaging the cut. Engage coolant flow before the drill contacts the workpiece when using the through-coolant feature.
