The KENNAMETAL 6350389 is a jobber-length, solid carbide drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Built to material grade KCMS15 and coated with AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride), it handles elevated cutting temperatures without sacrificing edge integrity. The 140-degree split-point geometry reduces thrust and self-centers on entry, minimizing the need for a center punch in most setups. At 2.9134 inches overall length with a 1.4173-inch flute length, this is a compact, rigid tool suited for precision hole-making. It features a straight cylindrical shank, right-hand cut, and two regular spiral flutes. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation in deep or interrupted cuts.
This drill bit is engineered for stainless steel and high-temperature alloy applications where standard HSS tooling fails prematurely. The AlTiN coating extends tool life in dry or minimum-quantity lubrication (MQL) conditions. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 29.00 mm maximum drilling depth make it appropriate for through-holes and blind holes in tight-tolerance machining operations. It is commonly used in aerospace, petrochemical, and industrial fabrication environments where material hardness and work-hardening are primary concerns. Both CNC machining centers and manual drill press setups can run this bit when proper speeds and feeds are applied.
Designed for drilling stainless steel and high-temperature alloys. Wire gauge size #24 (0.1520 inches diameter) fits standard collet systems and drill chucks accepting straight-shank tooling in that size range.
This bit should be installed and operated by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Secure the shank fully in a collet or drill chuck rated for the shank diameter before running the spindle. Always verify recommended speeds and feeds for the target material before cutting, as solid carbide tooling is brittle and susceptible to breakage from excessive lateral load or improper feed rate. Engage coolant-through supply where available to maximize chip clearance and tool life.
