The KENNAMETAL 6180126 is a right-hand indexable grooving and cutoff toolholder designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built in the Beyond Evolution series, it accepts EG0200M02P02 inserts secured by a clamp-style holding method. The toolholder features a 0.5 inch by 0.5 inch square shank and through-coolant capability, allowing coolant to be delivered directly to the cutting zone for improved chip evacuation and tool life. It handles a fixed groove width of 2 mm and a maximum depth of cut of 16 mm, making it suited to precision grooving applications where consistent groove geometry is required.
This toolholder is intended for use in external grooving and parting-off operations on production turning equipment. The 0.5 inch square shank fits standard lathe tool blocks and quick-change toolpost systems common in job shop and production environments. Through-coolant compatibility makes it a practical choice for harder materials or high-speed passes where heat management at the insert is critical. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in metalworking facilities are the primary installers and users of this toolholder.
Designed for use with EG0200M02P02 indexable inserts. Compatible with lathe tool blocks and quick-change toolpost systems accepting a 0.5 inch square shank. Specific machine compatibility should be verified against the toolholder overall length of 5 inches and head dimensions before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered down and all stored energy released before toolholder exchange. Ensure the shank seating surface and coolant port are clean and free of chips before securing the toolholder in the tool block. Torque the clamping fasteners per the machine tool manufacturer specifications, not those of the insert manufacturer. Confirm coolant flow path integrity before resuming cutting operations.
