The KENNAMETAL 6165861 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ISO designation HNPJ060432ANSNHD and ANSI code HNPJ438ANSNHD. It features a hexagonal shape with 12 cutting edges and a double-sided configuration, maximizing tool life per insert. The grade is KCSM40, a PVD-coated carbide with a TiAlN plus TiN multilayer coating engineered for cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The HD chip breaker geometry uses a chamfered and honed cutting edge style with a negative rake and neutral hand orientation. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.2537 inches. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible Kennametal Dodeka cutter bodies.
This insert is designed for milling applications on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces in both production and job-shop environments. Its negative rake geometry and HD chip breaker make it well suited for roughing and semi-finishing passes where chip control and edge stability are critical. The insert fits Kennametal Dodeka series cutter bodies and is held in place by a screw-type clamping method. It is sold individually per package with a minimum order quantity of 5 pieces, making it practical for maintaining an adequate inventory of cutting edges on active tooling setups.
Designed for use in Kennametal Dodeka series milling cutter bodies. Compatible with steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials per primary workpiece material codes P, M, and S. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw securely without over-torquing the insert pocket. Inspect the cutter body pocket and seating surfaces for wear or debris before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and runout.
