The KENNAMETAL 6146906 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. With a 0.0393-inch (1 mm) cutting diameter and a 0.1575-inch (4 mm) length of cut, this tool is built for fine detail work and tight-tolerance slotting, profiling, and contouring. The TiAlN coating extends tool life in high-temperature cutting environments by reducing heat transfer into the substrate. Three flutes provide a balance between chip evacuation and edge strength at small diameters. The 0.1181-inch (3 mm) shank diameter fits standard collet chucks used on CNC machining centers and high-speed spindles. Material grade KC633M identifies this as part of a formulation suited for demanding cut conditions.
This end mill is suited for milling ferrous metals, hardened steels, and similar materials where a small-diameter, high-performance tool is required. The centercutting geometry allows plunge milling in addition to peripheral cutting. Right-hand cut with right-hand spiral flutes makes it compatible with standard spindle rotation on conventional and CNC vertical mills. It is typically used in tool rooms, production shops, and precision machining environments where small-feature work demands tight runout control and consistent edge geometry.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill replacement for CNC machining centers and manual mills using a 0.1181-inch (3 mm) shank collet or end mill holder.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Secure the shank fully in a properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the drawbar or collet nut according to the spindle manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting to protect the tool and workpiece at this diameter. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as small-diameter carbide tools are brittle and sensitive to side loading.
