The KENNAMETAL 6146891 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision milling in demanding shop environments. It features a 3mm cutting diameter, a 4mm length of cut, and a 6mm shank diameter with a 50mm overall length. The three-flute spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining rigidity in the cut. A TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when machining ferrous and non-ferrous materials at elevated surface speeds. This is a single-end, right-hand cut, right-hand flute tool from the Kennametal KC633M grade in the 3CH-DKL series.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum and non-ferrous materials. Its centercutting capability allows plunge entry, making it adaptable to pocketing and ramping applications. The metric-dimensioned shank fits standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders common in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills used in tool rooms and production shops. The compact 3mm diameter makes it particularly useful for detail work, small-feature milling, and tight-tolerance die and mold applications.
Designed for use in standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders accepting a 6mm metric shank diameter. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), and aluminum and non-ferrous metals (N) per ISO material classification.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in an estop or locked-out state. Seat the 6mm shank fully and evenly in the collet or holder and torque the retention nut to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or damage before each use. Follow the machine tool and toolholder manufacturer guidelines for runout tolerances and maximum RPM for this diameter.
