The KENNAMETAL 6131603 is a solid carbide milling insert graded KCPK30, designed for indexable face and shoulder milling operations on machining centers and milling machines. The insert carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection across a range of cutting conditions. It features a rectangular LNGU insert style with a 90-degree included angle, four usable cutting edges, a positive rake geometry, and a GEM chip breaker. The corner radius measures 0.031 inches, and thickness is 0.1875 inches. The insert is held in the cutter body by a screw clamp and is intended for right-hand cutting. This is a single-sided insert sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
The KENNAMETAL 6131603 is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium in both roughing and semi-finishing applications. It is compatible with the Kennametal Mill 4-11 cutter series per the supplier-provided cutter series compatibility data. The ANSI code is LNGU432SRGEM and the ISO code is LNGU110408SRGEM. Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state. Seat the insert fully into the pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the torque specification published in the Kennametal toolholder documentation for the Mill 4-11 series. Inspect the insert pocket for chips, debris, or wear before seating a new insert, as contamination will affect runout and edge life. Do not mix used and new inserts on the same cutter body in finishing passes.
