The KENNAMETAL 6111674 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ISO designation SDET1204PDSRGB2 and manufactured to the KCPM40 grade. It features a dual PVD coating of TiAlN and AlCrN applied over a solid carbide substrate, delivering elevated heat resistance and wear performance in demanding milling applications. The insert is square in shape with a 90-degree included angle, a 15-degree relief angle, and a 5-degree rake angle. At 0.5 inches wide, 0.5 inches long, and 0.1875 inches thick, it is a compact, precision-ground insert designed for screw-clamped milling toolholders. It is intended for use by machinists and CNC tooling specialists working in production milling environments.
This insert is suited for face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose milling operations where TiAlN and AlCrN PVD coatings provide an advantage in cutting ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. The GB2 chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation. The right-hand cutting orientation and SDET series designation make it a direct fit for compatible SDET-style screw-on toolholders. Typical applications include production machining cells running CNC vertical and horizontal mills where insert life and edge integrity are critical to cycle time and surface finish consistency.
Designed for use in SDET-series screw-clamped milling toolholders accepting a square insert with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle. Compatible toolholders must be configured for right-hand cutting inserts of the SDET style.
Insert seating and screw torque should follow the toolholder manufacturer specifications for SDET-style clamping screws. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Handle solid carbide inserts with care to avoid edge chipping during installation.
