The KENNAMETAL 6086581 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. It features a 9/32 inch (0.2813 inch) mill diameter, a 3/4 inch length of cut, and a 5/16 inch shank diameter with an overall length of 2.5 inches. The single-end design carries four spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle, finished with a TiAlN coating for heat and wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. This tool is suited for production milling environments where tool life and dimensional accuracy matter. It is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators working with ferrous workpiece materials. Material grade is KC633M.
This end mill is engineered for milling steel, stainless steel, and cast iron in both job shop and production settings. The centercutting geometry allows for plunge entry as well as conventional and climb milling paths. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation make it compatible with standard CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. The TiAlN finish supports high-speed dry or minimal-coolant cutting strategies, which is common in high-production ferrous machining. The 30-degree helix provides a balanced combination of chip evacuation and cutting edge strength across a length-of-cut range of 0.700 to 0.800 inches.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills with a 5/16 inch collet or end mill holder. Rated for primary workpiece materials steel (P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K) per ISO material classification codes as stated by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by machinists using a properly sized collet or end mill holder rated for 5/16 inch shank tooling. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the tool. Verify runout at the tool tip before cutting to avoid premature edge wear or dimensional error. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety protocols when setting cutting parameters.
