The KENNAMETAL 6086573 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous materials including steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The cutter measures 7/32 inch (0.2188 inches) in diameter with a 7/16 inch (0.4375 inches) length of cut and a 1/4 inch shank diameter. Overall length is 2 inches. The four-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. A TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting speeds. This is a single-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can plunge directly into the workpiece as well as perform peripheral cuts.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines where close-tolerance slotting, profiling, and pocket milling are required. It is suited for production and maintenance machining operations on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. The fractional-inch shank is compatible with standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style tool holders sized for 1/4 inch shanks. KENNAMETAL material grade KC633M is specified for this tool, indicating it is engineered for general-purpose ferrous cutting applications at moderate to high surface footage.
Rated for primary use on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces (material codes P, M, K). Fits standard 1/4 inch end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and Weldon-style holders. Part of the KENNAMETAL 4SE.IS-R-L-X series.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the controller in a safe state. Secure the shank fully within the holder to the recommended engagement depth per the tool holder manufacturer's specification before tightening. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation, as excessive runout accelerates tool wear and reduces surface finish quality. This tool should be installed and operated by a qualified machinist familiar with speeds, feeds, and depth-of-cut parameters for carbide end mills in ferrous materials.
