The KENNAMETAL 6086522 is a single-end, solid carbide square end mill engineered for demanding metal-removal applications in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. It carries a 1 inch cutting diameter, a 1.5 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length with a 1 inch shank diameter. The TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. A 30-degree spiral helix promotes efficient chip evacuation, while the centercutting geometry allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. The KC633M substrate grade is optimized for toughness and wear resistance in ISO P, M, and K material groups. This tool is installed by machinists and CNC programmers in job shop, production, and maintenance environments.
The 6086522 is suited for milling operations in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron — materials classified under ISO P, M, and K workpiece codes. Typical applications include shoulder milling, slotting, and profiling passes on vertical machining centers and CNC milling machines. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional CNC spindle setups. The 1 inch shank mates directly with ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders sized for 1 inch bore. No extended reach or coolant-through capability is included in this configuration.
Designed for use in 1 inch bore end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and shrink-fit toolholders on vertical or horizontal CNC milling machines. Optimized for ISO P (steel), M (stainless steel), and K (cast iron) workpiece materials per the Series 4SE.IS-R-L-X designation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or changing the tool. Seat the shank fully into the holder and torque retention screws or collet nuts per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on solid carbide tooling.
