The KENNAMETAL 6086516 is a single-end, solid carbide square end mill engineered for high-performance milling in ferrous materials. It carries a 3/4 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/2 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length, with a matching 3/4 inch shank diameter for direct coupling to standard toolholders. The four-flute, 30-degree right-hand spiral geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting engagement. A TiAlN coating reduces heat at the cutting edge, extending tool life in demanding steel and stainless steel applications. Material grade KC633M designates the carbide substrate, indicating a fine-grain formulation suited to interrupted cuts and continuous finishing passes. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, and cast iron in both production and job-shop environments. Typical applications include shoulder milling, slot milling, and pocket roughing on machining centers and CNC knee mills. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard orientation for conventional vertical spindle setups. The 30-degree helix angle balances axial cutting forces, making this tool appropriate for medium-depth passes in ferrous workpieces. No coolant-through feature is present, so external flood or mist coolant delivery is the expected setup.
Designed for use in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces as indicated by primary workpiece material designations P, M, and K. Fits standard 3/4 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit toolholders used on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Secure the 3/4 inch shank fully to the minimum insertion depth specified by the toolholder manufacturer before tightening. Confirm spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the workpiece. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each setup, as carbide end mills can sustain edge damage during storage or handling that is not visible without close inspection.
