The KENNAMETAL 6086414 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Measuring 0.4375 inches in diameter with a 0.625-inch length of cut and 2.5-inch overall length, this single-end tool features a 2-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle. The TiAlN coating, applied under KENNAMETAL material grade KC633M, provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in ferrous and abrasive workpiece materials. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral milling. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators working in production or job shop environments are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for milling operations in ferrous materials including carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Its 0.4375-inch shank diameter fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders in that bore size. The 30-degree helix and spiral flute geometry support efficient chip evacuation at moderate to high surface footage. It performs in slotting, profiling, and pocket-milling applications where a compact cutting length-to-diameter ratio is appropriate. It is not configured for coolant-through delivery and does not feature an extended-reach geometry.
Designed for use with steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpiece materials per KENNAMETAL primary workpiece material codes P, M, and K. Fits standard 7/16-inch bore collet chucks and end mill holders. Part of the KENNAMETAL 2SE series.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC operators using a calibrated collet chuck or end mill holder matched to the 0.4375-inch shank. Ensure the holder is clean and free of burrs before seating the tool to the correct gauge length. Verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits before cutting, as excess runout accelerates flute wear on carbide tooling. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for cutting parameters; do not exceed the tool and machine rated speeds and feeds.
