The KENNAMETAL 6074030 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation XDPT120515SRGP in manufacturer grade KC522M. This single-sided, square-shaped insert features a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) AlTiN coating that provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in demanding milling applications. The insert measures 0.5000 inches in length and width with a thickness of 0.2188 inches and a corner radius of 0.0590 inches (1.50 mm). It offers four cutting edges per insert, a positive rake geometry, a 9-degree relief angle, and chamfered plus honed cutting edge preparation. Installation is via screw-holding method, and the insert is designed for right-hand orientation.
This insert is suited for face milling, shoulder milling, and high-feed applications across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The GP chip breaker geometry supports stable chip formation across these material groups. It is compatible with the Kennametal 7792VXD12 cutter series and is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 5 units. Machinists, tooling specialists, and CNC operators in job shops, aerospace, and general metalworking environments will find this insert applicable to both roughing and semi-finishing passes where consistent edge performance is required.
Designed for use with the Kennametal 7792VXD12 cutter series. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards under the XDPT120515SRGP designation. Rated for primary workpiece material codes P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), and S (superalloys and titanium).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured in the holder before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer to seat the screw to the cutter body torque requirements. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert to prevent seating errors that can affect runout and edge life.
