The KENNAMETAL 6012727 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Beyond Evolution series, designed for external grooving and cutoff operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the ER-P insert style with a GUP chip breaker geometry, it delivers a 0.25 inch (6.35 mm) cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 0.1511 inch (3.84 mm). The insert carries a PVD-applied AlTiN coating on a KCU10 carbide grade, providing thermal resistance and wear resistance suited to steel, stainless, and similar workpiece materials. Neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to both left-hand and right-hand toolholders that accept the ER-P seat.

This insert is intended for precision grooving applications where consistent depth control and surface finish are critical. The full-radius nose geometry with a 3.17 mm (1/8 inch) corner radius suits full-radius grooving and plunge operations.
