The KENNAMETAL 5990956 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill designed for precision hole-making in aluminum and non-ferrous materials. It features a 135-degree split-point geometry that reduces walking and lowers thrust at entry, making it well suited for production drilling where positional accuracy matters. The 10.20 mm cutting diameter and bright uncoated finish make it a direct-use tool straight from the package, without the added cost of a coating that non-ferrous applications rarely require. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and heat management during deeper passes. This drill is installed and operated by machinists, tooling technicians, and CNC operators in metal fabrication and production environments.
This drill is engineered for use in aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials in both manual and CNC drilling applications. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 56.00 mm maximum drilling depth make it appropriate for moderate-depth bores in production runs. The 3-flat shank style seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders, preventing rotation under load. It is commonly applied in aerospace component work, general metalworking, and high-volume part production where dimensional consistency is critical.
