The KENNAMETAL 5990911 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill designed for precision hole-making in aluminum and non-ferrous materials. It cuts a No. 26 wire gauge diameter of 0.1470 inches with a 135-degree split-point geometry that reduces walking and minimizes thrust at entry. The 2-flute right-hand spiral configuration provides efficient chip evacuation in softer, gummy materials. At 2.5984 inches overall length with a 1.1024-inch flute length, this drill fits standard jobber-length toolholders and drill chucks. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed production environments where heat management and chip control are critical. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this drill.
This drill is suited for light-to-medium production drilling in aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous alloys in both manual and CNC machining setups. The 3-flat shank with a 6 mm shank diameter seats securely in set-screw toolholders, reducing pullout risk under axial load. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 23.00 mm maximum drilling depth make it appropriate for through-hole and blind-hole applications in moderate material stack-ups. Installation and tool changes should be performed only after the spindle has come to a complete stop and the machine has been locked out per applicable safety procedures.
