The KENNAMETAL 5981019 is an external indexable grooving and cutoff toolholder designed for precision turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the Beyond Evolution series, this left-hand holder accepts EG0300M03P02 inserts secured by a clamp-style insert holding method. It handles a fixed groove width of 3 mm (0.118 inches) and a maximum depth of cut of 26 mm (1.024 inches). The 1-inch square shank measures 4.15 inches in length and supports through-coolant delivery to extend insert life and improve chip evacuation during grooving and parting operations. Machinists and toolroom technicians working in production turning environments will find this holder suitable for demanding cutoff and groove applications.
This toolholder is configured for external grooving and cutoff applications on standard CNC turning equipment. The left-hand orientation makes it suitable for specific spindle direction and tool post positioning requirements. Through-coolant capability makes it well suited for difficult-to-machine materials where heat management at the cutting edge is critical. The EVSC-T style holder and mount size 1616 are consistent with common quick-change and block-style tool post systems found in production turning cells.
Designed for use with EG0300M03P02 inserts. Toolholder style is EVSC-T, mount size 1616, and is part of the Beyond Evolution series. Compatible insert seat size is 3.0.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and all motion axes at rest before mounting or removing the toolholder. Verify that the tool post or block is clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Connect through-coolant supply lines according to machine tool manufacturer specifications before operation. Follow all applicable shop safety procedures and machine tool OEM guidelines when setting tool offsets and confirming depth-of-cut parameters at the control.
