The KENNAMETAL 5882934 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation CCMT2152LF and ISO designation CCMT060208LF, coated with a multilayer TiCN and Al2O3 MTCVD CVD coating under the KCK05B manufacturer grade. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, a 7-degree relief angle, and a honed cutting edge style. With an inscribed circle of 0.25 inches and a corner radius of 0.0313 inches, it is sized for finishing and light machining operations. Two cutting edges are available per insert. Screw-On holding secures the insert in compatible toolholders during operation.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring applications on steel (P-class) and cast iron (K-class) workpieces where high wear-resistance is the primary requirement. The LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light machining passes, producing controlled chips at lower depths of cut up to 0.0845 inches. It is suited for use in CNC turning centers and manual lathes across both production and job-shop environments. Licensed machinists, tool and die technicians, and CNC operators working with steel and cast iron components are the typical end users for this insert grade and geometry.
Designed as an OEM-specification replacement or direct-use turning insert for screw-on style CCMT toolholders accepting a 2152 (ANSI) or 060208 (ISO) size insert. Verify toolholder seat geometry and screw size before installation. No specific compatible model numbers were provided in the product data.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate torque screwdriver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the screw-on insert without over-torquing the clamping screw. Inspect the toolholder pocket and locating surfaces for chips or debris before seating each new edge. Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling carbide inserts, as edges are sharp even before use.
