The KENNAMETAL 5882906 is a solid carbide turning insert carrying the ANSI designation WNMG433RP and ISO designation WNMG080412RP. It features an 80-degree trigon (W) shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 0-degree relief angle (negative side clearance). The insert is coated via MTCVD with a multilayer TiN / TiCN / Al2O3 / TiOCN stack, grade KCM35B, engineered for high toughness in steel (P) applications and moderate wear-resistance to high toughness in stainless steel (M) applications. The RP chip breaker geometry supports roughing and medium machining operations. Cutting edges are chamfered and honed. With six usable cutting edges per insert, this is a cost-efficient choice for production turning environments.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, and superalloys including titanium. It is intended for use in KENLOC-series toolholders that accept WNMG-style inserts secured by clamp or pin holding methods. Typical installations include CNC lathes in both job-shop and production settings where consistent chip control across roughing and semi-finishing passes is required. The KCM35B grade is optimized for interrupted and continuous cuts in P- and M-class workpiece materials.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders accepting WNMG433 / WNMG080412 style inserts with clamp or pin retention. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring of steel (P), stainless steel (M), superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials per ANSI and ISO classification.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket before engaging the clamp or pin; an improperly seated insert can fracture under cutting load. Index or replace the insert when cutting-edge wear reaches the limit specified by your toolholder manufacturer to avoid workpiece damage.
