The KENNAMETAL 5873018 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for precision metal removal in demanding machining environments. Built on the 2CH series platform and coated with TiAlN via PVD process, it delivers wear resistance and thermal stability during aggressive cuts. The 4 mm diameter cutter carries a 0.10 mm chamfer width at a 45-degree chamfer angle and a 30-degree helix angle. With 2 right-hand flutes and a centercutting geometry, it handles plunge entry as well as lateral cuts. Material grade KC633M underpins the coating system. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop settings will find this tool suited to coarse-pitch, high-performance roughing strategies.
This end mill is intended for use on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. Its geometry and coating support a range of operations including shouldering, slotting, ramp-down, helical interpolation, drill-mill, and plunging and recessing. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into standard collet chucks or end mill holders. It is a single-end tool with a regular length-of-cut classification, making it appropriate for typical 3-axis and 4-axis CNC milling setups where reach length is not a limiting factor.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit option for applications requiring a 4 mm solid carbide corner chamfer end mill with a 4 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Catalog reference number 2CH0400MX031A.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians using a calibrated collet chuck or end mill holder matched to the 4 mm shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating the tool to maintain tolerance integrity. Follow the machine manufacturer and cutting tool manufacturer feed-and-speed recommendations for the specific workpiece material and operation type.
