The KENNAMETAL 5824537 is a solid carbide ball end mill from the GOmill 4BN series, designed for demanding milling operations in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. It features a 0.5 inch cutting diameter, a 1.5 inch length of cut, and a 6 inch overall length with a 0.5 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The four-flute, right-hand helical geometry runs at a 30-degree helix angle and is finished with a TiAlN PVD coating for extended tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. Eccentric relief on the cutting edges increases stability and reduces chatter, while center-cutting capability allows direct plunging and ramping operations. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists are the primary users of this tool.
The 5824537 is suited for both roughing and finishing passes on ferrous workpieces in vertical and horizontal machining centers. Its standard-length profile and 0.25 inch nose radius make it a practical choice for profiling, contouring, and three-dimensional surface work in steel and cast iron components. The eccentric relief geometry also simplifies reconditioning, making it a cost-effective option in high-volume production environments where tool regrinding programs are in use.
Designed for milling steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. Primary workpiece material codes P, M, and K confirm suitability for these material groups. Compatible with standard 0.5 inch straight-bore tool holders used in CNC machining centers.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Use a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder to achieve the specified shank diameter tolerance of +0.00000 to -0.00043 inches for accurate runout. Confirm tool projection and reach requirements before tightening to avoid interference with workpiece fixtures.
