The KENNAMETAL 5824508 is a solid carbide ball end mill from the GOmill 4BN series, designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. With a 1/8 inch cutting diameter, 3/4 inch length of cut, and a 4-flute right-hand spiral configuration, this tool delivers a balance of material removal rate and surface finish quality in a single-end design. The TiAlN/TiN/TiAlN PVD multilayer coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection at the cutting edge. The eccentric relief geometry increases cutting edge stability for extended tool life and supports efficient regrinding to reduce reconditioning costs.
This end mill is rated for steel, stainless steel, and cast iron — ISO material codes P, M, and K — making it a versatile choice for both roughing and finishing passes. The 30-degree medium helix angle promotes chip evacuation in these tougher materials. At 2-1/4 inches overall length with a long-length classification and a straight-cylindrical 1/8 inch shank, it fits standard collet chucks and tool holders used in vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills. Center-cutting geometry enables direct plunging and ramping entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
Designed for use in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces (ISO P, M, K material codes). Compatible with standard 1/8 inch collet chucks and tool holders. Part of the KENNAMETAL GOmill 4BN series; catalog reference 4BN0125IL075A.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Torque the collet to the tool holder manufacturer's specification for the 1/8 inch shank diameter. Verify runout with a dial indicator after tool installation before initiating the first cut, as runout directly affects tool life and surface finish at this diameter.
