The KENNAMETAL 5824421 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for high-performance milling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. Built on the 4CH series platform, it carries a TiN/TiAlN PVD coating under the KC633M material grade designation, providing thermal resistance and wear protection across a wide range of cutting conditions. The tool measures 0.5 inches in diameter with a 2-inch length of cut and a 4-inch overall length. With four helical flutes and a 45-degree chamfer angle, it handles shouldering, slotting, ramp-down, helical interpolation, drill milling, plunging, and recessing in a single tool.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers in both production and job-shop environments. It is a single-end, right-hand cutting, right-hand flute tool with a Weldon flat shank, making it compatible with standard end mill holders and set-screw retention systems. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. Typical applications include feature finishing and roughing operations on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces where a chamfered corner profile is required alongside full-depth slotting or profiling capability.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers with standard 1/2-inch end mill holders using Weldon flat retention. Compatible with workpiece materials coded P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), and N (non-ferrous metal) per ISO material classification. Part of the KENNAMETAL 4CH series; catalog reference number 4CH0500IL200B.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Ensure spindle is fully stopped and machine is in a safe state before tool changes. Secure the Weldon flat against the set screw contact point to prevent axial pullout under load. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping before beginning a cut.
