The KENNAMETAL 5824406 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for high-performance material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous machining applications. Built to the Series 4CH standard, it features a 5/8 inch (0.6250 inch) mill diameter, a 4 inch length of cut, and a 7 inch overall length. The 4-flute, right-hand helical geometry combined with a TiN/TiAlN (KC633M) PVD coating delivers extended tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The 45-degree chamfer angle and 0.0200 inch chamfer width produce clean edge breaks and controlled chamfers in a single pass. This tool is centercutting, enabling direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole.
This end mill is suited for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals in both roughing and finishing operations. Capable application types include shouldering, slotting, ramp-down, helical interpolation, drill milling, plunging, and recessing. The straight-cylindrical 5/8 inch shank fits standard ER and milling chucks used in CNC machining centers and manual mills. It is appropriate for job shop, tool room, and production floor environments where a single tool must handle multiple operation types without tool changes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct procurement option within the KENNAMETAL Series 4CH product line. Catalog reference number 4CH0625IX400A. Suitable for use in standard CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 5/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Verify chuck or collet runout is within acceptable tolerance before cutting to preserve the tight shank diameter tolerance of +0.000 to -0.011 mm. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and Kennametal cutting data recommendations for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut appropriate to the workpiece material.
