The KENNAMETAL 5824387 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill built for demanding metal removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous materials. The cutter measures 0.5 inches in diameter with a 1 inch length of cut and a 3 inch overall length, running a 0.02 inch chamfer width at a 45-degree chamfer angle. Four right-hand helical flutes at a 30-degree helix angle deliver efficient chip evacuation and surface finish across both roughing and finishing passes. The KC633M PVD TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection, extending tool life in high-temperature cutting conditions. Centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers performing shouldering, slotting, ramp-down entry, helical interpolation, drill milling, and plunging and recessing operations. It is appropriate for both production and toolroom environments where a single tool must handle edge-breaking chamfer work alongside general profile and slot milling. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard ER and side-lock collet systems. Normal pitch and medium helix style make this tool a general-purpose choice across a broad range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials in shop-floor conditions.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills with standard 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank toolholders. Compatible workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), and non-ferrous metals (N) per ISO material classification. Manufacturers catalog number 4CH0500IR100A, Series 4CH.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool change position is reached before handling the cutter. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and torque the retention fastener per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cutting program, and confirm tool length offset is set correctly in the machine controller.
