The KENNAMETAL 5824357 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for precision material removal in demanding machining environments. Built to the Series 4CH specification, it features a 5/16 inch (0.3125 inch) diameter with a matching 5/16 inch straight cylindrical shank and a 1-1/8 inch length of cut. The 45-degree chamfer geometry and 0.0160 inch chamfer width produce clean edge breaks and transitions in a single pass. A TiN/TiAlN PVD coating in the KC633M grade provides heat resistance and extended tool life. With four right-hand helical flutes at a medium helix angle and centercutting capability, this tool handles both roughing and finishing operations without a tool change.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. Typical applications include shouldering, slotting, ramp-down entry, helical interpolation, drill milling, and plunging and recessing. It is sized for use in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where a compact, single-end solid carbide tool is required. The 3 inch overall length provides adequate reach for most standard fixture setups without sacrificing rigidity. It is a single-end tool intended for replacement as part of a standard cutting tool program.
Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals (material codes P, M, K, N). Designed as a direct replacement tool under the KENNAMETAL Series 4CH program; catalog reference number 4CH0312IL112A.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician following standard toolroom practice. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool release mechanism disengaged before changing tooling. Secure the 5/16 inch straight shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder torqued to the machine manufacturer's specification for that holder type. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production run, as TiN/TiAlN-coated carbide tools are sensitive to excessive runout at the edge.
