The KENNAMETAL 5824338 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for precision metal removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous applications. It measures 0.1562 inches (5/32 inches) in diameter with a 3/16-inch straight cylindrical shank and a 2-inch overall length. The four-flute, right-hand helical design carries a TiN/TiAlN PVD coating under the KC633M material grade designation, providing thermal resistance and wear life in demanding cutting conditions. The 45-degree chamfer angle with a 0.0100-inch chamfer width makes it well suited for edge breaking and chamfering passes in both roughing and finishing operations. This is a single-end, centercutting tool from the Kennametal Series 4CH line.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines where close-tolerance chamfering, shouldering, slotting, ramp-down, helical interpolation, drill mill operations, and plunging and recessing are required. It is appropriate for job shops, tool rooms, and production environments machining ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The regular-length flute geometry and normal pitch suit general-purpose milling at standard cutting depths. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant or flood coolant delivery should be used as needed for the workpiece material.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide end mill for CNC and manual milling applications in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. Compatible with standard 3/16-inch bore collets and end mill holders. Part of the Kennametal Series 4CH; catalog number 4CH0156IR056A.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle powered down and the machine in a locked-out state per applicable shop safety procedures. Verify collet bore size matches the 3/16-inch shank diameter before clamping, and confirm runout with a dial indicator after seating to protect the carbide flutes. Do not exceed recommended depths of cut or feed rates for the workpiece material, as solid carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral shock loads. External coolant application is recommended when machining steels and stainless steels to manage heat at the cutting edge.
