The KENNAMETAL 5824226 is a solid carbide corner chamfer end mill designed for precision milling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. It features a 6 mm diameter, 4 helical flutes, and a 45-degree chamfer angle with a 0.10 mm chamfer width. The TiAlN PVD coating from Kennametal's KC633M material grade provides thermal resistance and extended tool life under demanding cutting conditions. With a 30-degree medium helix and centercutting capability, this tool handles both roughing and finishing operations. It is typically installed by CNC machinists and tool-and-die professionals in vertical and horizontal machining centers.
This end mill is suited for a range of milling operations including shouldering, slotting, ramp-down entry, helical interpolation, drill milling, and plunging and recessing. The single-end, straight cylindrical shank and normal pitch geometry make it compatible with standard collet and end mill holder setups. Primary workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), and non-ferrous metals (N), making it a versatile option for job shops and production environments where multiple material types are machined on a single setup.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide corner chamfer end mill for use with standard straight-cylindrical shank collet chucks and end mill holders in CNC machining centers. Primary workpiece material compatibility includes steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals as indicated by material codes P, M, K, and N.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the collet or holder to the recommended gauge length and apply appropriate clamping torque per the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, particularly when chamfer width tolerance is critical to the finished part.
