The KENNAMETAL 5705675 is a spiral flute tap designed for threading 10-24 UNC holes in high-temperature alloys and nickel alloys. It features three left-hand spiral flutes with a slow flute style and a 10-degree helix angle, which pull chips up and out of the hole during tapping. The plug chamfer provides a gradual thread lead-in suited for through-holes. Manufactured from powdered metal vanadium high speed steel and finished with an AlCrTiN coating, this tap handles the elevated cutting temperatures and abrasive conditions common in nickel alloy and high-temp alloy work. Class of fit is 2B/3B with an H3 thread limit.
This tap is used in machining and metalworking applications where 10-24 UNC internal threads are required in difficult-to-machine materials such as nickel alloys and high-temperature alloys. It is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual tapping setups where coolant-through is not available. The Series T690 designation places it within a line engineered specifically for demanding material applications. It is typically installed by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and maintenance mechanics working in aerospace, industrial, and heavy manufacturing environments.
Designed for cutting 10-24 UNC internal threads in high-temperature alloys and nickel alloys. Fits standard quick-change tap holders and straight-shank collet chucks sized for a 0.194-inch shank diameter.
Tapping operations should be performed by qualified machinists following shop safety procedures, including proper workholding and machine guarding. Power down and lock out the machine before changing or inspecting tooling. Although this tap does not require coolant-through, a suitable cutting fluid or tapping compound for nickel alloys is strongly recommended to extend tool life and protect thread quality. Do not exceed the recommended tapping depth of 0.920 inches for this tool.
