The KENNAMETAL 5698146 is a CCMT2151LF grade KCP25B solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal in CNC and manual turning operations. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN applied via MTCVD process, delivering thermal resistance and wear protection across a range of cutting conditions. The diamond 80-degree insert shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry, while the LF chip breaker and honed cutting edge style promote controlled chip flow and reduced built-up edge. Neutral hand orientation and a positive rake angle of 5 degrees contribute to lower cutting forces during operation. This insert is rated for turning, facing, and boring applications.
This insert is intended for primary use on steel and cast iron workpieces, covering ISO material codes P and K. It fits screw-on style toolholders accepting CCMT-geometry inserts with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle. The 80-degree diamond shape and 1/64-inch corner radius suit moderate to finish-range depths of cut up to 0.0845 inches. Typical install environments include production turning cells, job shop lathes, and boring bars where consistent tool life on ferrous materials is required. Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts.
