The KENNAMETAL 5698083 is a round turning insert conforming to ANSI designation RNMG64RN and ISO code RNMG190600RN. It is manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a multilayer MTCVD coating system consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN layers, corresponding to the KCP25B manufacturer grade. The round insert shape (Insert Shape Code R) provides a full-radius cutting edge with an included angle of 360 degrees, a 3/4 inch inscribed circle, and 8 available cutting edges per insert. Chip breaker geometry RN is suited for roughing and medium machining operations. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert on compatible KENLOC toolholders.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel and cast iron workpieces. The KCP25B grade delivers moderate wear resistance combined with toughness, making it well matched to P-category steels and N-category aluminum and non-ferrous materials. Maximum depth of cut is 0.2498 inches (fractional 1/4 inch). The insert uses a negative rake angle and negative side clearance with chamfered and honed cutting edge preparation. It is held in the toolholder by clamp or pin methods and is compatible with multi-use applications across a range of cutting lengths from 0.700 to 10.000 inches.
Designed for use in KENNAMETAL KENLOC series toolholders accepting RNMG-style round turning inserts. Compatible with multi-use turning, facing, and boring applications on steel (ISO P) and cast iron or aluminum and non-ferrous (ISO N) workpiece materials. Insert holding method is clamp or pin.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque and seat-seating procedures. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Do not use damaged or chipped inserts, as a compromised cutting edge increases the risk of insert fracture during cutting.
