The KENNAMETAL 5697927 is a CNMG433MW indexable turning insert in grade KCP10B, designed for metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating stack of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN applied via MTCVD process, delivering high wear resistance on steel and moderate wear resistance with toughness on aluminum and non-ferrous materials. It carries an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 3/64-inch corner radius, and 4 usable cutting edges. The MW wiper chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium machining applications, producing a superior surface finish at higher feed rates.
This insert is suited for steel and cast iron machining in turning, facing, and boring operations in both production and job-shop environments. The KENLOC series design is held with a clamp-and-pin system and is compatible with standard negative-rake CNMG toolholders. The honed cutting edge style and negative rake angle make it appropriate for interrupted cuts and harder workpiece materials where edge security is critical. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in aerospace, automotive, and general metalworking shops are the primary users of this insert.
Designed for use in standard negative-rake CNMG indexable turning toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO N). Suitable for turning, facing, and boring operations per the KENLOC series specifications.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified for the toolholder to secure the insert; do not overtighten with hand tools alone. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper support and edge integrity.
