The KENNAMETAL 5697925 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation CNMG433FW and ISO designation CNMG120412FW, grade KCP10B. It carries a multilayer CVD coating consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN applied via MTCVD process. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 1/2 inch inscribed circle (0.5000 inches), and a 3/64 inch corner radius (0.0469 inches). The FW chip breaker geometry is designed for wiper finishing operations, producing superior surface finish at elevated feed rates. Four usable cutting edges and a honed cutting edge style make it a cost-effective option for precision turning work. Insert thickness is 3/16 inch (0.1875 inches).
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel and cast iron workpieces. The KCP10B grade delivers high wear resistance on steel (ISO P materials) and moderate wear resistance with toughness on aluminum and non-ferrous materials (ISO N materials). The wiper finishing chip breaker geometry supports high-feed finishing passes where tight tolerances and fine surface finish are required. Holding method is compatible with both clamp and pin-style toolholders using the KENLOC series system. The negative rake and negative side clearance geometry (clearance code N, tolerance code M) are standard for this insert class. Maximum depth of cut is 0.1691 inches.
Designed for use in KENLOC series toolholders that accept CNMG433 (CNMG120412) negative-rake inserts with clamp or pin holding. Suitable for primary workpiece materials steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO N). Material grades C3 and C7. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before installing the insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamping screw — do not over-torque, as this can fracture the insert or damage the pocket seat.
