The KENNAMETAL 5697919 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation CNMG431FW and ISO designation CNMG120404FW, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC turning, facing, and boring operations. It carries the KCP10B grade and features a multilayer CVD coating system consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN, applied via MTCVD process for high wear resistance. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry, while the FW chip breaker configuration is engineered for wiper finishing passes. The insert measures 12.9 mm (0.5077 inches) in length with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle diameter and a 1/64 inch (0.0156 inch) corner radius. It is part of the KENLOC series and is rated for 4 cutting edges per insert.
This insert is suited for steel and cast iron machining at finishing depths of cut, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.1691 inches. The KCP10B grade provides high wear resistance in steel (P) applications and moderate wear resistance with toughness in aluminum and non-ferrous (N) applications. The wiper edge geometry produces improved surface finish at standard feed rates, reducing the need for additional finishing passes. It is held in place via clamp or pin methods and fits holders designed for CNMG-style inserts with negative rake and negative side clearance. Typical applications include production turning on CNC lathes in job shop and manufacturing environments.

Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or wear before installing a new insert to ensure accurate positioning and surface finish.
