The KENNAMETAL 5697910 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation CCMT2151MF and ISO designation CCMT060204MF, coated using a multilayer MTCVD process with TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN for high wear resistance. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a neutral hand orientation, a 7-degree relief angle, and positive rake geometry. The MF chip breaker is tuned for finishing and medium machining operations. With a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, this insert is well suited for precision turning, facing, and boring on steel and cast iron workpieces. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators in screw-on toolholders.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring applications on steel (P) and cast iron workpieces where high wear resistance is the priority. It also provides moderate wear resistance and toughness on aluminum and non-ferrous materials (N). The KCP10B grade with CVD multilayer coating makes it a strong choice for production environments running medium to finishing cuts. The positive side clearance and chamfered, honed cutting edge geometry support clean chip formation and consistent surface finish. It carries both ANSI and ISO standard designations and is identified under industry standard number CCMT2151MF.
Designed for use in screw-on toolholders accepting CCMT2151 (ANSI) or CCMT060204 (ISO) inserts. Compatible with toolholder systems specifying a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, 3/32-inch insert thickness, and 7-degree relief angle. Verify toolholder specifications before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct torque driver for the screw-on clamp fastener per the toolholder manufacturer specification - do not overtighten by feel alone. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating to ensure proper contact and avoid insert fracture during the first cut.
