The KENNAMETAL 5694127 is a solid carbide turning insert with grade designation KCP25B and ANSI insert code DPMT2151LF. It features a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN applied via MTCVD process, delivering moderate wear resistance and toughness suited for steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials. The insert carries a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, positive rake angle of 5 degrees, and an 11-degree relief angle. With a 0.0156-inch corner radius and a honed cutting edge style, this insert is configured for finishing and light machining operations. Licensed HVAC techs and machinists will note the LF chip breaker geometry optimizes performance at lower depths of cut. Two cutting edges are available per insert.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications on CNC lathes and machining centers. It is well suited for residential shop environments and industrial production settings where steel and cast iron are the primary workpiece materials, with secondary applicability to aluminum and non-ferrous alloys. The neutral hand configuration and screw-on holding method make it a straightforward drop-in for compatible toolholders. The DPMT-style geometry is commonly deployed in moderate-stock-removal and finishing passes where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are priorities. ISO insert code is DPMT070204LF.
Designed for use in DPMT-style screw-on toolholders accepting a 1/4-inch inscribed circle insert. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards (ANSI: DPMT2151, ISO: DPMT070204). Verify toolholder seat geometry and screw hole diameter of 0.1102 inches before installation.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret or toolpost is locked out before changing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torque screw and avoid over-tightening, which can crack the carbide body. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
