The KENNAMETAL 5694126 is a DNMP432K solid carbide turning insert in the KCP25B grade, designed for precision metal removal on CNC and manual lathes. It features a multilayer CVD coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN applied via MTCVD — that delivers moderate wear resistance and toughness across steel and cast iron applications. The insert has a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a honed cutting edge. With four usable cutting edges per insert and a negative rake geometry, this insert is suited for stable, high-productivity turning operations where controlled chip formation and edge security are priorities. It belongs to the KENLOC series and meets both ANSI and ISO dimensional standards.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on steel and cast iron workpieces. It performs well in moderate wear and moderate-to-high toughness demand scenarios, making it a practical choice for general-purpose CNC turning applications in production and job shop environments. The KCP25B grade is classified for use on steel (ISO P) and aluminum and non-ferrous materials (ISO N) at moderate cutting parameters. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers and users of this insert.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders and other DNMP-style negative insert seats that accept a 55-degree diamond insert with a 0.5000 inch inscribed circle, 3/16 inch thickness, and clamp or pin holding. Consult toolholder documentation to confirm seat geometry and clamping method before installation.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping specifications. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.4065 inches as specified for this insert geometry.
