The KENNAMETAL 5694100 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation CPMT2152MF and ISO designation CPMT060208, coated with a multilayer MTCVD system consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN. Manufactured to the KCP25B grade, this insert carries moderate wear-resistance and toughness characteristics suited to steel and aluminum applications. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape combined with a positive rake and positive side clearance geometry supports consistent chip flow across finishing and medium machining operations. The insert measures 6.45 mm (0.2539 inches) in length with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch (0.0313-inch) corner radius, and a 3/32-inch (0.0938-inch) thickness. It mounts via the screw-on holding method and provides two usable cutting edges per insert.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Primary workpiece materials include steel and cast iron (ISO material code P) as well as aluminum and non-ferrous metals (ISO material code N). The MF chip breaker geometry targets finishing and medium machining passes where controlled chip formation and surface finish consistency are priorities. The chamfered and honed cutting edge style reduces edge chipping on interrupted or continuous cuts at moderate feed rates. Each insert is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 5 units per purchase.

Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to tighten the screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque to avoid cracking the carbide body. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or contamination before installation, as debris under the insert can cause premature edge failure.
