The KENNAMETAL 5694095 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation CNMP431K and ISO code CNMP120404K, designed for precision metal removal in CNC turning, facing, and boring operations. This insert carries the KCP25B grade with a multilayer MTCVD coating stack of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiOCN, delivering moderate wear resistance and toughness suited to steel, cast iron, and aluminum workpieces. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a strong cutting geometry with a neutral hand orientation. It measures 12.90 mm (0.5077 inches) in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch (0.0156-inch) corner radius. Tooling engineers and CNC machinists specify this insert for medium machining chip-breaker applications where consistent edge life and predictable performance are required.
This insert fits KENLOC-series toolholders that accept CNMP-style negative-rake inserts held by clamp or pin. Primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron, with the KCP25B grade also rated for aluminum and non-ferrous materials. The insert is suited to medium-depth roughing and semi-finishing passes in both horizontal and vertical turning centers. Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and clamping procedure for KENLOC-series clamps and pins. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Confirm spindle and turret are at a full stop and machine is in an e-stop or lockout condition before changing inserts. Do not use inserts that show edge chipping, cratering, or built-up edge, as degraded edges increase cutting forces and risk workpiece damage.
