The KENNAMETAL 5660462 is a solid carbide round milling insert in the RPHT series, designed for indexable milling operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Manufactured to grade X500 with a CVD-applied TiN/TiC/TiN multilayer coating, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding cutting environments. The RPHT10T3M0E422X4 geometry features a positive rake angle, an 11-degree relief angle, and a honed cutting edge style. With four usable cutting edges per insert and a neutral hand orientation, it provides consistent performance across compatible cutter bodies. Licensed ANSI and ISO standards apply.
This insert is suited for milling applications in aerospace, general machining, and fabrication shops where workpiece materials include carbon steel, stainless steel, and nickel- or titanium-based superalloys. The round insert shape distributes cutting forces evenly, reducing chatter in interrupted cuts and profiling passes. It is screw-held in the cutter body and compatible with the Kennametal 7713VR10 cutter series. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and copy milling where a round profile insert geometry is specified.
Compatible with the Kennametal 7713VR10 cutter series. Insert follows ANSI and ISO geometry code RPHT10T3M0E422X4 and is sized to RPHT insert size code 10T3, fitting any RPHT-standard screw-held milling cutter body accepting a size 10 round insert.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians using the appropriate Torx or hex key for the insert clamping screw specified by the cutter body manufacturer. Ensure the cutter body is removed from the spindle and the machine is locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the cutter body manufacturer's recommended depth-of-cut or spindle speed limits for this insert geometry.
